AGWG is an open-submission archive of Power Rangers fanfiction from every season and every genre. Any author is welcome to submit any Power Rangers fanfic; however, there are limits as to what I can post. Please read the advice I give below and heed it so that I will have no reason to reject any of your fics.

Some boundaries
To the budding writer: please don't be intimidated by this section. Just read it through and consider the points I make. I honestly do not wish to be the "quality police" or to censor anyone's creativity. I would never refuse to publish a story simply because it doesn't suit my personal tastes, because I don't like the ship, etc. That said, not all stories are publishable; it is very frustrating to wade through the muck on, for example, FanFiction.net just to locate a decent story. As such, I would ask you to please refrain from submitting the following:
- Non-Power Rangers fics. I shouldn't have to mention this, but just in case, I want to make it clear that this is strictly an archive for Power Rangers fanfiction. Crossovers are fine, alternate universe fics are fine, even original characters are fine, but your story MUST be about someone on one of the many incarnations of the Power Rangers TV show. (Fics with all-original or mostly-original Rangers may be rejected unless they're really good. This is one area where my judgement is likely to be a bit more subjective.)
- Actorfic. Fanfics about the actors rather than the characters are not allowed. Yes, there are some "unobjectionable" forms of actorfic, but the line is very difficult to draw.
- Adult Content. Any PWP (Porn Without Plot, a story centered exclusively around a more-or-less explicit erotic scene), anything rated NC-17 (see below for ratings information), or anything with slash (stories centered mainly around homoerotica or same-sex pairings) is "adult content" as far as this site is concerned. I simply will not post them here. On the slash issue, I feel the need to elaborate. It has nothing to do with "hating homosexuals." It is simply extremely difficult to set boundaries of decency in that genre--especially on a web site that may be viewed by tender eyes--and thus I just draw the line at slash altogether.
- Unreadable stories. This shouldn't be too hard. Just make sure you check your stories for spelling and grammar, and take the time to properly compose your stories. I'm not expecting you to find a perfect style right away, nor am I expecting never to find any typos. But serious, glaring errors recurring many times throughout a story will be grounds for rejection. (I would suggest reading Ms. Nitpicker's nifty guide, How to Write Marginally Readable FanFiction for information on avoiding such errors.)
- Out-of-Character Fanfics. This doesn't mean that you can't explore new dimensions of a character's personality. But Tommy isn't a nerd and Billy isn't an idiot (unless, of course, you give us good reason to believe their unusual behavior [i.e., spell, trauma, medical condition]). Relentlessly out-of-character fanfics will likely be rejected. Authors of parodies have a little more freedom, but be careful not to destroy the characters. (Ideally, a good parody exxaggerates inside jokes and aspects of a character's personality to create a humorous situation. It is this hyperbole that makes the parody fun to read.)
- Plagiarism. All submitted fics must be original work. Lyrics to copyrighted music may be posted in song fics, but they must be credited and must not make up the entire fic. Give credit where credit is due. If you borrow an idea, mention it in your disclaimer.
- Scripts. Unless you are writing a parody, script fanfics are not acceptable for this site. A script is a skeletal format for a movie, play, or TV show. When you write a story to be read, you are the writer, director, stage manager, and actor all at once; the script format lacks the potential for the same depth and insight that prose offers. In the future, I may add a section for correctly formatted teleplay fanfics, but for now, scripts are out!

Ratings Guide
Ratings on this web site follow the guidelines currently used by the Motion Picture Association of America. From http://www.filmratings.com/:
- G: General Audience. All ages admitted. This signifies that the film rated contains nothing most parents will consider offensive for even their youngest children to see or hear. Nudity, sex scenes, and scenes of drug use are absent; violence is minimal; snippets of dialogue may go beyond polite conversation but do not go beyond common everyday expressions.
- PG: Parental Guidence Suggested. Some material may not be suitable for children. This signifies that the film rated may contain some material parents might not like to expose to their young children - material that will clearly need to be examined or inquired about before children are allowed to attend the film. Explicit sex scenes and scenes of drug use are absent; nudity, if present, is seen only briefly, horror and violence do not exceed moderate levels.
- PG-13: Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. This signifies that the film rated may be inappropriate for pre-teens. Parents should be especially careful about letting their younger children attend. Rough or persistent violence is absent; sexually-oriented nudity is generally absent; some scenes of drug use may be seen; one use of the harsher sexually derived words may be heard (if you use "b****r," "f**k," or "s**g" more than once, it's an automatic "R").
- R: Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian (age varies in some locations). This signifies that the rating board has concluded that the film rated contains some adult material. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their children to see it. An R may be assigned due to, among other things, a film's use of language, theme, violence, sex or its portrayal of drug use.
- NC-17: No One 17 and Under Admitted (not permitted on AGWG). This signifies that the rating board believes that most American parents would feel that the film is patently adult and that children age 17 and under should not be admitted to it. The film may contain explicit sex scenes, an accumulation of sexually-oriented language, or scenes of excessive violence. The NC-17 designation does not, however, signify that the rated film is obscene or pornographic.

Actually sending your fics
Don't forget a disclaimer. Yes, we all know Buena Vista Entertainment owns Power Rangers, but it's only proper to acknowledge that you're using their idea. Also, take the opportunity to explain any changes in continuity you may have made, or to mention any help you've received from others.
Convert your fic into one of the following formats: Windows Notepad (*.txt), Microsoft Word (*.doc), or HTML (*.html). I'd prefer *.html (if you use Word 2002, please use "Save As Web Page [Filtered]"), as I will have to do much less work to make those uploadable. (As soon as possible, I will be converting this site to PHP, so that you can submit your fics in a similar manner to the way you can on FanFiction.net.)
Your fanfic will probably "look" like it's formatted slightly differently than the way you submitted it (i.e., double breaks between paragraphs instead of indentations). Please don't panic; I won't change the content.
Please refrain from submitting chapters of stories until all parts are written. You may, however, submit stories of an epic/series/saga one at a time. (I'll know the difference.)
Finally, send your fics as an attachment to nmoses@umsis.miami.edu. For each fic, include the title, a brief summary, a rating, a timeline approximation (when in the show the fic takes place, or before or after), and, if applicable, what epic/series/saga your fic is a part of. If you have published the fic elsewhere, also mention when it was originally posted. By all means, feel free to send multiple fics in one e-mail. Also, if this is your first time submitting fics, let me know what name you would like to be archived under and what contact information you would like me to post (e.g., e-mail, AIM, web site, etc.).
Good luck!
